Philips Heartstart FRx pediatric key
For rescuing children aged 1 to 8 years or weighing less than 25 kg, pediatric electrodes are typically used. Philips has designed a pediatric key for the HeartStart FRx AED. It can be connected directly to the AED, allowing the use of adult electrodes. Once the pediatric key is connected, the AED immediately announces the HeartStart FRx BabyStart mode. This reduces the shock volume and, if desired, provides CPR guidance for pediatric rescues.
Pediatric key lifespan
The pediatric key for the Philips FRx AED does not have an expiration date. It can be inserted into the AED at any time. After a procedure, the pediatric key can be reused. Because the pediatric key is used in conjunction with the adult electrodes, you must keep track of the expiration date of these electrodes. They have a shelf life of 2 years. Once the expiration date has passed, you must insert new electrodes into the AED. Before using the AED, always ensure that you have connected an unopened electrode cassette with a intact vacuum seal.
