Philips Heartstart HS1 pediatric electrodes
The HeartStart HS1 electrode cartridge is specially designed for pediatric rescues. This means it is suitable for children aged 1 to 8 years and weighing less than 25 kg. When the child's electrodes are connected to the AED, the shock level is automatically reduced. Electrode placement instructions are indicated on both the cartridge and the electrodes.
Lifespan of Philips Heartstart HS1 pediatric electrodes
The shelf life of the Philips HeartStart HS1 AED pediatric electrodes is approximately two years. The electrodes have an expiration date related to the conductive gel, which can dry out over time. Using electrodes past their expiration date can have negative consequences for the patient. Therefore, always ensure you keep an unopened cassette of pediatric electrodes in the AED. You can find the expiration date on the front of the cassette or on the sticker inside the foil pouch surrounding the electrode cartridge.
